Alabama Bicentennial School System

The Schools of Guntersville, an Alabama Bicentennial School System, will hold a celebration of our city on Sunday, March 10, from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM at Guntersville High School.  The purpose of “Our Life Stories Pastport Event” is to educate our students and community about our town’s beautiful past. Guntersville History will come alive through student projects including a living museum, art, cinema, music, wildlife, geography and agriculture.  Students who are interested will receive a Guntersville Pastport Booklet that will contain twenty locations in Guntersville. They will then have until April 19th to visit each location, learn about its history, and have their PastPort Booklet stamped. Students who present their Pastport Booklet to their school’s front office by April 19th with all locations stamped will receive a “Key to the City Bicentennial Certificate” on the schools’ awards day. Students’ current outlook on their community will be strengthened and will, in turn, positively impact the future of life in Guntersville.  Please make plans to join us for this celebration of our city.

The event is free and open to the public.
