  • Code of Student Conduct
    The Guntersville City Board of Education requires that all students enrolled in the city schools conduct themselves in a manner that facilitates the educational process. To insure that the educational process in the schools is not disrupted because of misbehavior on the part of enrolled students, the Board of Education has established specific classifications of misbehaviors and the appropriate disciplinary actions to deal with these violations of student conduct.

  • GCBOE Insurance Waiver Form
    It is my decision to waiver the purchase of the school day/accident insurance coverage that isoffered for purchase by the school system. My personal medical coverage will be responsible forpayment of all accidents/injuries that might occur during school activities.

    PHYSICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION IN ATHLETICS AND CHEERLEADING The Board of Education recognizes the value of an athletic program both to individuals and to the school system. For this reason, the Board will make reasonable efforts to maintain a high quality program that emphasized personal development and integrity of individual participants. The Board recognizes that student participation in athletics and cheerleading is voluntary and hereby decrees that all participants shall adhere to policies established by the superintendent, the principal, the athletic director, and the coaches.

    Part 1. Student Agreement, Consent, And Release (to be signed by student at the bottom) I know of no reason why I am not eligible to represent my school in interscholastic athletic competition. If accepted as a representative, I agree to follow the rules of my school and AHSAA and to abide by their decisions. I know that athletic participation is a privilege. I know of the risks involved in athletic participation and choose to accept such risks. I hereby authorize the use or disclosure of my individually identifiable health information should treatment for illness or injury become necessary. I hereby consent to the disclosure by my school to AHSAA, upon its request, and hereby grant AHSAA the right to review all records including my SSID number relevant to my athletic eligibility including, but not limited to, my records relating to enrollment and attendance, academic standing, age, discipline, residence and physical fitness.

    ALABAMA HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION Concussion Information Form (Required by AHSAA Annually.) A concussion is a brain injury and all brain injuries are serious. They are caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head, or by a blow to another part of the body with the force transmitted to the head. They can range from mild to severe and can disrupt the way the brain normally works.

  • The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (effective 4/21/2000) requires websites to gain parent permission for users under the age of 13 and/or 18 before creating individual online accounts. Many educational sites used by Guntersville City Schools now require such permission. These sites go through an administrative approval process to ensure the educational value for students. Students will only set up accounts when directed to do so by their teachers. There will be no cost to parents for participation in such sites. The school does not accept responsibility for accounts that students create on their own, not directed by their teachers.

    C.O.P.P.A. rights do not apply to websites not requiring individual accounts.

    Parents who do not want their child to participate in the sites listed on the Guntersville City Schools website must notify the school in writing.

    NOTE: This only applies to websites that require a student accounts.

    Purpose:

    The purpose of the Guntersville City Schools (GCS) Technology Use Policy is to facilitate communications and collaboration between members of the Guntersville City Schools community, which includes both staff and students. Technology provides expanded educational opportunities through resource sharing, innovation, and communication.

    Terms & Conditions for Personal Electronic Device Use:

    Possession/Use of Personal Electronic Devices Staff and students bring electronic devices to school at their own risk. The Guntersville City Board of Education and staff are not responsible for any damaged, destroyed, lost, missing, or stolen devices. If a staff or student device is damaged, destroyed, lost, or stolen, school officials are not required to investigate the incident, nor will the school system have any financial responsibility for the device charges.
